October 2007: Citizens for Oceanfront Preservation wrote its first letters in opposition to the Bradley Cove Development Project.
May 2008: The Trust for Public Land met with the City of Asbury Park and made an offer to negotiate to buy the contractual agreement for the land from Asbury Partners.
September 2008: Asbury Partners provided official plans to the Asbury Park City Council to build 15 private homes on the beach in the north end of Asbury Park.
September 2008: The City of Asbury Park met with Congressman Pallone’s and Senator Kean’s offices to discuss the possibility of turning the land in questions into an oceanfront park.
October 2008: Despite great community outcry, the Asbury Park City Council approved the plans for the Bradley Cove Townhouses.
January 2009: Again, after strong public opposition, the Asbury Park Planning Board approved the Bradley Cove Townhouse project.
February 2009: Dan Smith, DEP Green Acres, Charlie Welch, DEP CAFRA, Dery Bennett, American Littoral Society, Joyce Grant, Citizens for Oceanfront Preservation and Kerry Butch, NJ Alliance of Environmental Commissions met in Trenton to discuss the Bradley Cove project.
March 2009: The City of Asbury Park, Asbury Partners and the NJ DEP Green Acres met on-site to discuss Green Acres and CAFRA issues.
June-July 2009: NJ Environmental Federation, Conserve Wildlife Foundation and Clean Ocean Action and NJ Environmental Justice Alliance signed on to be part of a coalition for Oceanfront Preservation.
July 2009: Surfrider Foundation sponsored campaign meeting against Bradley Cove Development
and for an Oceanfront Park in Asbury Park.
August 2009: Events held in Asbury Park to bring attention to proposed development: Asbury Park Family Day and Surfrider Anniversary in collaboration with Barefoot Wine Celebration: Flyers and Petitions distributed.
August 2009: The City of Asbury Park, Asbury Partners and NJ DEP Division of Land Use Regulation met on-site to discuss Green Acres and CAFRA ISSUES.
